Commercial Awareness Training Course

In today’s increasingly competitive business environment strong commercial awareness, for those operating in key roles, is a vital part of the decision-making process and ultimately the profitability and success of any organisation.

Using a balance of theory, small group, paired and individual exercises, this practical 1- day programme aims to challenge the participants’ current thinking around the need for greater commercial awareness in business and will seek to develop the supporting business acumen/business critical skills required to successfully deploy their role as commercially focused professionals.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Recognise leadership behaviours that support business growth and profitability.
  • Build business and financial acumen and understand why this is relevant to a commercially focussed business professional.
  • Explore the impact of a collaborative approach to working with and across departments.
  • Use business analysis tools such as SWOT and PESTLE to assess your organisation’s commerciality.
  • Explore the benefits of stakeholder identification and develop approaches to map and manage key stakeholders.
  • Use the ‘T-shaped’ colleague model and explore its value and commercial significance.
  • Identify their current level of ‘internal’ customer focus and the impact this has on external commercial relationships.
  • Develop and review their Action Plan
