Starting with the legal principles the training course outlines the procedural requirements of handling discipline and grievance issues and includes a number of relevant and interesting case studies.
After introducing the basic principles this course covers the following:
- Understanding the ACAS Code – explaining the role and principles of the ACAS Code of Practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures. Explaining the risks involved if an employer or employee unreasonably breaches the ACAS Code.
- Effective performance management – looking at issues which commonly arise, such as absence from work, poor work performance and difficult relationships between colleagues. Presenting a structured approach for improving employee performance.
- Disciplinary and grievance investigations – this looks at practical issues involved in investigations into grievances and disciplinary allegations.
- Conducting disciplinary and grievance meetings – the practical steps needed to effectively manage disciplinary and grievance meetings.
- Reaching a decision – covering some of the issues that managers should consider when reaching a decision following the disciplinary or grievance meeting.
- Disciplinary and grievance appeals – effectively handling appeals and appeal meetings.
